Where Our Puppies Grow Up

Welcome to Guard Dog Puppies — your home for Rottweiler, Boerboel and German Shepherd puppies for sale in South Africa. Here you will find full information on our adult dogs, current litters and resources, including photos, pedigrees, health testing information and accomplishments, so you can buy your puppy with complete confidence.

We are proud members of the Kennel Union of Southern Africa (KUSA) — registration number 1030045 — and the South African Boerboel Breeders’ Society (SABBS). We are situated at 1 Molyneaux Rd, Greenside, Kimberley, 8301, South Africa, where our dogs live and work on a real farm: puppies are whelped indoors, underfoot, and raised amid the everyday bustle of farm life, so the world already feels familiar by the time they leave for their new homes.

SABBS Long Service Award 2024 presented to Beverly Katz of Guard Dog Puppies

SABBS Long Service Award 2024

Thank you SABBS for the recognition. It has been a very long, tough journey — and if anyone had told me 24 years ago that this is where it would lead, I would never have believed them!

I have been breeding Boerboels with SABT since 2010. I was an appraiser for 13 years and a Senior Appraiser for 5 of those years. I received the SA Studbook Breeder of the Year award in 2020, and I can honestly say I have loved, fought for and honoured this wonderful breed as hard as I could, for the longest time, with a passion that cost me plenty.

Thank you again SABBS for this honour. — Beverly Katz

Our Philosophy

Breed Few. Breed Well.

We specialise in three breeds only – the Rottweiler, the Boerboel and the German Shepherd – because true depth of knowledge cannot be spread across a dozen breeds. Each litter is planned months in advance around one question: will these puppies improve the breed?

That means health-tested parents, honest matching of puppies to homes, and staying in our families’ lives long after collection day. We would rather have a waiting list than a warehouse.

Our Standards

Health Testing, in Black and White

Every claim below is backed by a certificate you can inspect.

Hips & Elbows

All breeding stock is officially hip- and elbow-graded before any mating is planned. Dysplasia prevention starts with the pedigree, not the puppy food.

Breed-Specific DNA

JLPP testing for our Rottweilers and DM testing for our German Shepherds, with matings planned so no affected puppy can be produced.

Registration

Our breeding stock is registered with verifiable pedigrees, and your puppy’s registration paperwork goes home with the puppy.
